Weatherford Comancheros Riding Club

The Weatherford Comancheros Riding Club was founded in 1967 by several people of the Weatherford Community looking for a place to ride and have fun. The club was founded as a family oriented environment and although the club has evolved thru the years, the commitment to family has always remained the same. Throughout the years the club has been involved in many activities including trail rides, parades & grand entries. It’s main focus however, is on Playdays. Playdays are equine speed events. Competitors compete against each other in several events including Barrels, Poles, Flags, Flying W, Strait Barrels, Pylons, Bowtie, Spur & Baseball. The fastest time is the goal. Competitors compete for high point awards at each individual playday while also competing for coveted year end awards. Although the competition can sometime be serious, the goals of horsemanship, friendship & fun are always in play. Today the Comancheros continues to grow due largely to the original premise of being a “Family Oriented” organization. It is not unheard of to see 3 generations of one family competing at one of our events. Many young people who had to stop play-daying for a time due to College or the beginnings of their families return when they start to have children of their own. We welcome all riders regardless of their level of competition. This is an atmosphere of old friends, new friends and especially family. Come on out to see what all the talk is about…..
